International Programs Offices will be closed on December 24th and 25th for Christmas.
Also, on December 23rd, 26th, and 27th, International Programs will only provide remote services via email or Zoom.

Admission Requirements


Depending on your applicant type, you may need to provide different documents and/or information with your application. You must also send all required documents by the deadline and be at least 16 years old by the first day of classes. Documents will be uploaded with the online application.

Applicants who hold a U.S. passport, green card, immigrant visa, certain non-immigrant visas, or special immigrant categories should not apply as international students. Please review our guidelines to check whether you should apply via one of our Admissions Offices for domestic students.

 

General Applicant

You will apply as a general applicant if you are not a current F/M-1 visa student and have never attended Seattle Colleges.

 

1. International Student Admission Application

Complete your international student admission application through our online portal. Apply now!

2. $50 Application Fee

A $50 application fee must be paid before an application can be processed. The fee payment is included in the online admission application process and applicants will be asked to enter the transaction id/confirmation number for their payment with their application.

Payments must be made online with Flywire via the following link: https://seattlecolleges.flywire.com. Once on the payment portal homepage, select the "Fees for Applicants" option to make your payment.

3. Proof of Finances

Applicants must identify who will be financing their U.S. education and provide proof that sufficient funds are available for their studies. For complete details, including minimum amounts required for admission, please review our guide.

4. Copy of Passport Photo Page

Applicants must provide a copy of their passport's photo page. The entire photo page must be visible (no portion can be obstructed, including the bottom strip), and the image must be of good quality (no glare or reflections).

5. Proof of English Level

All applicants are required to demonstrate their English level to be admitted to Seattle Colleges, including the Institute of English (SCIE).

 

Additional Requirements

Underage Students

Students who will still be underage (16 or 17) by the start of classes must provide a copy of their high school transcripts or a copy of their high school diploma.

Applicants with Dependents (Spouse or Children)

Applicants will be able to request an F-2 form for dependents who will accompany them to the United States after they have been admitted.

To make the request:

- Complete the Request for Dependents Form in the online admission portal

- Provide a copy of the dependent's passport, plus original and translated copies of the marriage certificate (for spouse) or birth certificate (for children)

Applicants must have demonstrated that an additional US$3,000 per dependent is available (see funds required for the student). Admissions will review the financial information already provided with the admission application, and request additional documents if required.

 

Transfer Applicant

If you are already in the U.S. studying on an F/M-1 visa, or if you have studied in the U.S. with an F/M-1 visa within the past 5 months, you are considered a transfer applicant.

Make sure to include all pages. Only required for applicants still in the United States.

7. Copy of F/M-1 Visa

Applicants must provide a copy of their F/M-1 visa. The scanned copy must be legible (no glare or reflections).

Returning Applicant

If you attended Seattle Colleges for at least one quarter, and then either transferred to another institution or left Seattle Colleges for at least two quarters, you can apply as a returning student.

 

1. Returning Student Application

Returning student applications must be submitted through our online application portal:

- If you initially applied for admission via our current application portal, please log back into your student account and submit your returning student application.

- If you initially applied for admission via one of our now-retired legacy application systems, please contact IntlAdmissions@seattlecolleges.edu and provide your full name, date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY), and student number. Our staff will provide you with access to our new online application portal so you can complete your returning student application.


Note: Due to privacy laws (FERPA), agents and institutional partners are not allowed to make requests on behalf of returning students. Returning students must contact the International Admissions Office directly.

2. Proof of Finances

Returning Intensive English or College Bridge students may be required to submit proof of their English level prior to registration, depending on how long they left Seattle Colleges. Admissions will provide specific guidance to these students after they have been admitted.

 

Concurrent Applicant

If you are in the United States on an F-1 visa and you would like to take classes at Seattle Colleges while remaining on your current school's I-20 form, you can apply as a concurrent applicant.

Remote Applicant

If you do not have immediate plans to travel to the United States, or if you plan to complete your entire academic program online from your home country, you can apply as a remote applicant.

3. Copy of Passport Photo Page

Remote applicants must provide a copy of their passport's photo page. The entire photo page must be visible (no portion can be obstructed, including the bottom strip), and the image must be of good quality (no glare or reflections). Alternatively, remote applicants who do not have a passport can upload a copy of another official state identification document (birth certificate, driving license, etc.).

4. Proof of English Level

All applicants are required to demonstrate their English level to be admitted to Seattle Colleges, including the Institute of English (SCIE).

To be fully admitted, remote applicants must demonstrate they have an English level sufficient for college studies, as the Seattle Colleges Institute of English (SCIE) does not offer online classes.

 

Additional Requirements

Underage Students

Remote applicants are not required to provide proof of finances, as they won't receive an I-20 form or need to apply for an F-1 visa. In addition, students who study at Seattle Colleges from outside the United States are not required to enroll in a minimum number of credits.
