Transferring Credits
Applicants who studied at another college or university may be able to transfer credits to Seattle Colleges and should consider having their transcripts evaluated. Two types of credit evaluations are available:
Preliminary transcript evaluation is provided by the International Admissions Office so students can get a general understanding of transferability of their credits to Seattle Colleges. Transcripts from U.S. colleges and universities Preliminary credit evaluations are provided only for students applying to University Transfer, High School Completion Plus, and Career Training (including BAS) programs. The preliminary evaluation will determine whether credits from the U.S. college or university may be used to meet degree program requirements and provide an estimate of the number of credits that may be transferred. Credits will not actually be transferred until an official transcript evaluation is requested (see "Official Transcript Evaluation" below). Applicants interested in a preliminary credit evaluation should select this option on their admission application and upload the relevant transcripts when prompted. The International Admissions office will perform the credit evaluation on submitted admission applications as long as the application is complete and the $50 application fee has been paid. The preliminary credit evaluation will be included with the student's acceptance materials. Transcripts from non-U.S. colleges and universities Transcripts from colleges and universities outside the United States are not eligible for preliminary transcript evaluation. For official transcript evaluation of non-U.S. transcripts, see below. Official transcript evaluation is not required for admission purposes. However, students who want to transfer credit to Seattle Colleges should request an official transcript evaluation as soon as possible after their visa is granted, as the evaluation can take up one quarter (three months) to complete. Official transcript evaluation falls under the jurisdiction of the Registrar's Office at each of the Seattle Colleges and is required for a final determination of credit transfer. Transcripts from U.S. colleges and universities Students who would like to officially transfer credits from a U.S. college or university to Seattle Colleges must: Credits will only be transferred to Seattle Colleges after students have requested and received an official evaluation of their previous coursework. Transcripts from non-U.S. colleges and universities Transcript evaluation policies for non-U.S. transcripts differ from policies for U.S. transcripts. - International Baccalaureate
- College Board Advanced Placement Examinations (AP)
- Cambridge International Advanced Level (A-Level) Examinations: Up to 15 credits per pass (Grade A – E), depending on the content of the syllabus. Credits are normally not awarded for General Paper.
