More than a housing option, a homestay is an opportunity to experience American culture at home. We encourage students to consider living with a host family for at least a few months during their studies. Homestay agencies consider important factors when matching students with host families, including smoking habits, strong religious preferences, and whether the student likes children or pets.

The cost to arrange a homestay ranges from $250 to $350 for the placement fee, which includes the cost of an airport pickup. The monthly cost averages around $1,000 for housing and food, and students are provided with their own bedroom. Typical homestay options include food for meals, laundry, and utilities. Some homestays may charge an additional $25 for internet service.
