Finances & Scholarships

Studying abroad doesn't have to be break the bank! As a student interested in studying abroad, you are responsible for researching all the details of the programs you are considering to find one that fits your budget and your needs. State and federal financial aid can be applied to your study abroad expenses if you are eligible, and some scholarship opportunities are available. If you already have a scholarship, it may be able to be applied toward the cost of studying abroad.

Program costs are subject to change depending on fluctuations in currency exchange rates or the number of program participants. We will try to note these changes whenever possible. Additionally, please be aware that most program fees do not include Seattle Colleges tuition, student fees, airfare, insurance, personal expenses, and other expenses that may arise while studying abroad.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid may cover some of your program costs during your quarter abroad, but it is important that you start the application process early. To determine whether you are eligible to receive financial aid, be sure to contact the Financial Aid Department as well as your study abroad advisor.

Once you have determined eligibility for financial aid, the next step is to ensure you are participating in a Seattle Colleges-sponsored program. For programs coordinated directly by Seattle Colleges, or programs where you are directly enrolled at Seattle Colleges during your study abroad, tuition should be eligible for aid. Program fees and cost of living expenses may be covered depending on the program and your level of need. Please talk to an advisor if you have specific questions.
